Another Slow Day

by

cold-comfort-23It’s another slow day in Criminal Minds world: we do get to see a new episode tomorrow - “Zoe’s Reprise.” In it, a serial killer is emulating the crimes of notorious killers of the past. This sounds like the CM book Killer Profile. That’ll be one tomorrow at nine on CBS.

So because there is nothing to write about, I thought I’d like to hear from you. And to entice you further, I’ll offer a $10 gift card to Amazon.com for one lucky reader. The question is which CM star (either the real person or their fictional character) do you think you are most like? Why? (I think I’m most like Hotch, though I wish I was more like Garcia! I think she’s sassy and fun and amazingly smart.)

Have your answers to me by Friday at noon, and I’ll randomly select a winner. You can either email them to me or leave them in the comment section. I’d love to hear from everyone and you could win a whole $10! Wow! Well, it’s a free $10 and requires very little effort. I like to give Amazon gift cards because you can buy whatever you want there, and there are lots of cool things for under $10. If you’re interested, drop me a note. I always love to hear from you. I think this blog has some of the smartest and articulate CM fans, and I really appreciate your comments. Thanks to you all.

In the meantime, check out what’s going on on your favorite shows at 451Press’s great entertainment blogs.

What CM character am I most like… This is so hard to answer! The one I would most prefer to be like is Prentiss. She’s sexy and smart, looks great in a suit and in a t-shirt and jeans, she’s tough, she carries a gun and likes to read sci fi.

Of course, I think I’m more like an awkward combination of Rossi and Reid. I’m like Reid in that I’m geeky and tend to get overly excited about things that really only interest me and other geeky people. (I wish I were as smart as he is, though! Or even had the eidetic memory without the IQ.) I’m like Rossi in that I can be very stubborn in my opinions and I do a good job of acting confident. Though I think in Rossi’s case the confidence is real, whereas with me, I often pretend to be confident rather than actually feeling confident. (I have a theory that confidence is mostly in how you act rather than how you feel, anyway.)

But maybe someday I’ll be as cool and tough and awesome as Emily Prentiss, instead…

Matching up a CM personality, either the real person or the character, with my character traits is something I have never thought about. Since I am a fanfic writer, although not CM fic, I enjoy making up stories that do not in any way include me. I like to take what I see as personality traits the real writers and creators of the characters have left hanging or ignored or no longer relevant to the plot of the show and use those to create my own stories.

Nevertheless, I guess I am closest in age to Rossi, in RL and the character. Like Garcia, I am overweight, although much, much more so than Garcia. I have a brilliant genius nerd of a son, who is like Reid in his almost constant surprise about interpersonal relationships and almost the same age. Like Prentiss and JJ, I have two beautiful sisters who care about fashion and being in shape and who are professionally tough. Morgan is like no one I know, because I really just do not have a lot of dealings with gorgeous youngish perfect-body guys. (Although I really wish I did, just for the vicarious eye candy thrill)

Were Jason Gideon still around, I would be the most like him; middle aged, Jewish, widely read, and still trying to hold onto youthful innocence and zest for life.

Hotch, who is my favorite character is as unlike me as chalk is to cheese. I do not tightly keep everything inside, I do not angst over every decision I have to make and I know that things do pass and get easier, even big things like divorce, family destruction and child custody issues.

So, I guess I have not really answered your challenge question per se, but then again, I do not chase murderers or work for the FBI or am male, but I do live in Virginia less than an hour from Quantico.

Hmmm…I’m just gonna go with what my friends said when I asked them this question…Reid. My friend often says I “know everything”, even though I don’t, though I do tend to have answers to anynumber of random questions. I have also been banned form playing Scene It? And Pop Culture Trivial Pursuit because I was too good at them. :) I was a complete geek in high school(still am, actually, even well into college), always the youngest in everything(but only by a few months, not years like Reid.) I also read fairly fast, between 500-700 words per minute. Nowhere close to Reid’s 20,000, but higher than average. He likes to read, and I’ve got 4 full bookshelves and still need more! Um..we both wear kinda cool looking glasses, though mine are purple and I need them all the time.

I’m most like Prentiss. I’m smart, sharp, feminine, tough, and can hold my own.
