Brothers in Arms
Quote from the episode:
“For he today who sheds his blood with me shall be my brother.” William Shakespeare
Last night, the team investigated a series of police officer murders in Phoenix. The officers were responding to calls when they were shot in the neck. The police think it’s gang-related but the BAU thinks otherwise. The police bring in a suspect, who is the leader of a gang in the area. Morgan knows it’s not him, but interrogates him in order to get more information. It turns out that the gang leader’s lieutenant was shot in the neck by a wanna-be tough guy. It also turns out that this guy also frequented fight clubs - and lost every single time. He takes out his aggression on one of the winners - a bouncer - and shoots him in the neck. See a pattern? Then he turns to cops. He’s killing anyone with authority to prove how tough he is. The team uses Hotch as bait (go Hotch!) and fake a tip about where the unsub will be. They know he will go after Hotch when he’s alone, so they just wait. He’s about to shoot and the team gets him.
I liked the episode, but I thought it was a little different from previous episodes because they really didn’t go into why the unsub was doing any of this, other than he wanted to prove his manliness or whatever. Overall, though, I thought it was a good episode. Not my favorite, but definately worth watching. What did you think?

I agree; it doesn’t rank as a favorite episode, but it was okay. A few things were trite or ubiquitous; the gang banger brother killing the real serial killer at the end, that was expected, I think. Morgan’s sympathy moment with the son of the slain cop. I could have done without that as I KNOW Morgan is that kind of guy already. The nasty, superior cop attitude, he was not well drawn because he came through as awfully one-dimensional.
I loved the Hotch moment when he disappears behind the SUVs. I loved the twist when the cops figure out that the FBI knew the first location was a fake.
So, all in all, it was okay. I look forward to more Garcia and Reid this season.

I agree completely. I also liked when the team was telling the police about their plan. They said they’d use Hotch as bait, and then the camera rested on his face for a minute. He didn’t look apprehensive in the least…like just another day at the office.
And where has Garcia been this season?? I feel like we haven’t seen enough of her.
