Correction or Another Rumor?
TV Squad reports today that stories floating around about Mandy Patinkin being shunned by his costars are untrue. AJ Cook says Patinkin has been calling them and explaining what happened, which went a long way towards resolving some of their anger and disappointment.
Producer Ed Bernero says that Patinkin shot 14 hours of footage, which will be used in the upcoming season, and also said rumors that the cast and crew didn’t want to work with him are also not true. He is in the final scene alone because that is the way the story was set up.
TV Sqaud also says that the first episode of season three will be one that was pulled out of last season because of its similarities to the Virginia Tech shootings. The episode will be re-edited and set up as a flashback.
So, who knows? It seems to be true that Patinkin’s costars were angry, or at least disappointed, in not hearing from him right after he left the show. They’re denying not wanting to work with him. Makes it a little less dramatic but a lot more professional. (But I still like my Mandygate picture, so I’m keeping it up!)
