Little Update, But No News
There is no news about a possible SAG strike, but both sides in the issue have released statements. The Screen Actors Guild said:
Critical issues unique to actors remain in dispute. We have already made difficult decisions and sacrifices in an attempt to reach an agreement. Now it’s time for the SAG members to stand united and empower the national negotiating committee to bargain with the strength of a possible work stoppage behind them.
The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers responded Saturday:
SAG is the only major Hollywood guild that has failed to negotiate a labor deal in 2008. Now, SAG is bizarrely asking its members to bail out the failed negotiating strategy with a strike vote — at a time of historic economic crisis. The tone deafness of SAG is stunning.
The WGA strike last year cost the LA economy $2.5 billion. Now, the economy is in worse shape than it has been in decades. Another strike could be disasterous. What do you think about a possible strike?

I think it would be crippling for both sides. Everyone’s running scared, trying to hold on to their lifestyles and excesses. But then Twilight takes in 70 million in one weekend, so no one’s going to give up easily.
